The M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) is a private engineering college located in Bangalore, India. MSRIT is an autonomous institution affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University. It was granted academic autonomy in 2007.
History
MSRIT was founded in 1962 by Dr. M.S Ramaiah. It was the first institute started by the Gokula Education Foundation. It now offers courses like B.E. in 12 areas, B.Arch., M.Tech. in eight areas, M.Sc (Engineering) by research, MCA, MBA and Ph.D.
MSRIT was affiliated to Mysore University and later with the Bangalore University (until 2002). It used to be affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum. It received autonomous stature in 2007. It is an institutional member of the ISTE and is recognised by the AICTE. It has been certified ISO 9001:2008 and has been accredited by NBA. MSRIT is one the institutes to be funded under TEQIP (Technical Education Quality Improvement Program) by the World Bank.
From Aug 2007, MSRIT has been academically autonomous. While VTU will still award the degrees, MSRIT is free to set its own syllabus and conduct evaluation.
